Temporomandibular joint treatment
Grinding or clenching of the teeth, for example caused by stress or other strains, requires a holistic approach.
Temporomandibular joint treatment
The temporomandibular joint is a valve for relieving stress or overstimulation. This leads to subconscious grinding and clenching of the teeth, which has a negative impact on the surrounding hard and soft tissue as well as the structures of the temporomandibular joint. Craniomandibular dysfunction (CMD) is becoming increasingly common and is occurring at a younger age.
We need to take a holistic view of the body when dealing with CMD complaints, as the symptoms and causes can be multifaceted. The search for the cause is a complicated undertaking and requires detailed clinical and instrumental functional diagnostics, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and other possible interdisciplinary examinations.
We work closely with colleagues from other specialist fields, such as dentists, orthopaedists, radiologists, rheumatologists, neurologists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, speech therapists, physiotherapists and osteopaths.
